Dark Night of the Soul

Dark Night of the Soul 2013-2016

Dark Night of the Soul is a winter storytelling experiment for male-identified queers interested in performing their nonfiction stories of shame, heartache, and failure in front of their community. This circle of hearts and bodies came together during the winter to practice heart-work and transform their tragic into magic. Photos discouraged phones expected to be silent this unique and special storytelling event brought the warmth of the campfire to our darkest hour. Hosted by Kaj-anne Pepper and directed by Jason Myers, this playful exploration of queer masculinities happens each year between December and March. Between 2013-2016, we have encouraged dozens of local artists to share their fearless first-person stories and take off their "masc".
